For the Brazilian Association of the Mechanically Processed Wood Industry (Abimci), the 20% increase in exports in 2018 is mainly responsible for the economic recovery of the industry, which has suffered strong impacts from the truck drivers’ strike and the new export barriers for U.S. In this post, we explain why exporting is so important to the country.

‘We expect a bit more growth next year. The volumes were consolidated and very well’, the Superintendent of Abimici Paulo Pupo analyzes. ‘Brazil has declared itself as one of the main players in timber products, because 65% of our forest is certified by origin and more than 80% of the products are certified according to the technical requirements of the market’.
