Planted Forests and socioeconomic factors

Currently, Brazil is in 7th place in the ranking of countries with more areas of planted forests in the world. According to 2015 data, there are about 7 million hectares reforested, while the United States has 25 million and China 77 million.

Despite the difference when compared to other countries, the forest sector was the highest growth in gross domestic product last year, accounting for about 4% of our GDP, corresponding to a turnover of almost US $ 40 billion in country. All this without counting that the sector is also responsible for at least 7% of Brazil’s total exports, in other words, moves over $ 10 billion.

When we look at the social scene, this is reflected in almost 7 million jobs across the country. A reforestation company of Cascavel, Minas Gerais, estimated to generate 20 jobs per 1000 hectares of planted forest.

The segment of raw material for furniture, naval and higher value-added products industry, which Floresteca part, generates alone about $ 4 billion. Now, according to the Brazilian Industry trees (IBA), the expectation is that the industry brings together US $ 53 billion to expand reforestation areas in Brazil by 2020 and become a world reference.
