Export boosts agribusiness trade balance.

During the collective on January 16, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Blairo Maggi, highlighted the participation of the forestry sector through the results of the agribusiness trade balance of 2017. In the last year, agribusiness exported a total of US$ 96.01 billion, an increase of 13% over 2016.

“We are very pleased to note that Brazilian industry is competitive in the international market, meets all the technical criteria required and reaches levels so relevant as to stand out in the trade balance,” said the president of the Brazilian Industry of Trees – Ibá, Elizabeth of Carvalhaes.

According to her, the Brazilian industry of planted trees is a world example for its high productivity, considering the volume of wood produced x area per year, and less rotation, between planting and harvesting trees.

It was also addressed the record exporting of wood panels, which reached 1.03 million tons sent out of the country, corresponding to a turnover of US $ 326 million and representing 12% of the total exported volume, behind the soybeans (33%), meat (16.1%) and sugar and sugarcane industry (12.7%).
